Privacy policy

The short version

SnapTools is built to need as little of your data as possible. The content you paste into a tool is processed in your browser or discarded immediately after processing — we never store it. If you're not signed in, we measure how often tools are used with an anonymous identifier that cannot be linked back to you or tracked across days. If you are signed in, we also record which tools you used against your account, so we can support you and understand how the product is used. We don't use tracking cookies and we don't sell data to anyone.

What we do not collect

• Your tool input or output. Text, files, JSON, keys — whatever you put into a tool — is never stored. Some tools run entirely in your browser, so the input never leaves your device; others process it on our server only to compute the result, which is returned to you and then discarded. Either way, we never keep it.
• Your name, email, or account — unless you choose to create an account for the API, in which case we store only what's needed to operate it (see below).

Anonymous usage measurement

To understand which tools are useful (and to show a public "used N times" count), we record a single event when a tool page opens. Each event contains only:

• the tool's name (e.g. json-formatter),
• the time it happened, and
• an anonymous visitor hash.

The visitor hash is computed as SHA-256(daily secret + IP address + browser user agent). We never store your IP address or user agent — only the resulting hash. The daily secret rotates every 24 hours, so the same visitor produces a different hash each day and cannot be followed across days. This lets us count roughly how many distinct people used a tool without identifying anyone. This measurement sets no identifying cookie and stores no personal data, so it needs no cookie-consent banner.

If you have an account

When you're signed in, a tool you use is also recorded against your account, in a separate record containing the tool's name and the time. We keep this so we can support you, see how the product is actually used, and show you your own usage. This is personal data: unlike the anonymous measurement above, it is linked to you.

Signing in uses a strictly necessary session cookie — that's what keeps you logged in, and it isn't tracking. API requests you make with a key are recorded too: the tool called, the time, the response status, and the originating IP address.

Local storage on your device

We use your browser's local storage for functional preferences only — your theme (light/dark), whether the sidebar is collapsed, and a short list of recently used tools shown on the home page. This data stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is not used to identify you.

Third parties

These are only present when we explicitly turn them on:

• Advertising. If ads are enabled, Google AdSense may set its own cookies and process data under Google's privacy policy.
• Affiliate links. Some pages may link to partner products through our /go redirect. We log only that a labelled link was clicked (the partner and the originating tool) — never who clicked it.
• API accounts & payments. If you create an API account, we store your email and a one-way hash of your API key. Payment processing, when available, is handled by our payment provider; we do not store card details.

Your rights

If you have an account, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you — including the record of which tools you've used while signed in and your API usage. Contact us and we'll action it.

The anonymous measurement described above is the exception, and not by choice: those records contain no identifier that we can trace back to a person, so we genuinely cannot find "your" rows in order to action a request against them. That's a consequence of the design, not a refusal. The data controller for SnapTools is Zaraar Digital Limited.
